What’s your background?
Originally an electrician working for Guernsey Electricity before moving into the office providing energy support and heating designs. I then moved to AFM to manage their electrical department for three years before moving to Lovells to be an assistant property manager, rising through the ranks to be Director until I left with fellow director Howard Mawson in October 2012 to from Mawson Collins. Howard and I ran Mawson Collins together until he retired in 2019 at which point Lisa and became sole owners and continued to run the business until its acquisition in February 2026.
What do you love most about your role?
Using experience and knowledge to problem solve, find solutions, make things better, keeping buildings in good condition and in working order. I also love taking an old property and refurnishing it for clients, as well as being involved with developments when they are on the drawing board and working with clients throughout the process right through to managing the finished product – my input will then remain forever which is a nice feeling.
What is the best thing about being part of the Cherry Godfrey Group?
The wider team and working with a likeminded group of individuals, departments and leadership, coupled with the ability to grow all aspects and spread my ideas, experience and skills, to a wider audience.
What makes you feel proud at work?
Delivering the above but when everything in a building or at a complex is right, on time and clients, tenants, contractors and our team/staff are happy achieving the collective end result.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
To confirm that the job offered to work at the Income Tax office was not right and the apprentice electrician offer was the right one. Not sure I would change anything else as my path has allowed me to do what I can now. The same in my personal life, no changes there.
What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend?
Catching up on the many things the house needs done which I have neglected for many years, coupled with running more and maybe more exercise to take the place of the many many weekends I have spent at my desk seeing everyone else enjoying themselves through my office window!
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
To do a job which you enjoy as that way you will do it well - it will be easier and you will do it better. Don’t stay in a job which you hate as you are wasting time!
